Inspired by the stylings of Chet Baker, Maynard Ferguson, Dizzy Gillespie and the tight funk of Tower of Power, Monk made his bones performing with greats like Charlie Byrd, Art Farmer, Urbie Green and many, many others.
As producer he has developed major arts festivals, and successful groups and musicians plus he conceived, owned and operated the top rated jazz venue in New Orleans!
Monk cultivated his silky-smooth passages and screaming range on stages from the early years at the Playboy Club in the French Quarter to concerts with the boys on the Tonight Show and some of the most prolific jazz artists of our time. Read more on Monks music Page.
